The Week That Was: Drama All Around
Well, let’s just say this time’s The Week That Was was nothing short of electrifying. Yes, we have all been officially ‘Modi’fied. And the whole week long, we were either waiting with bated breath or celebrating/mourning this change. Point is; there hasn’t been a better time to recap what’s on in the world of entertainment. And because I’m an angel—who moonlights as a gossip columnist—and realises you are not updated, I bring you everything worth knowing in the week that was. Yes, you can thank me later. *Polishes halo*
AbhiAsh Split Is A Hoax
For some reason, the rumour mills were suddenly abuzz that AB Jr and wife Aishwarya weren’t getting along very well. Something about a public fight and/or Jaya Bachchan’s domineering nature hampering the sanctity of their marriage (I’m clearly reading too many tabloids). Anyway, turns out…that’s all just a load of BS. And thank god for that. Not like I’m emo about the two, it’s just that Bollywood has seen more than a fair share of divorces recently and it’s not a very cool trend. Luckily, Abhishek took to Twitter (the chosen destination for all celebs to announce anything important) and set matters straight. We like this angry young man behaviour. Wonder where he get’s it from…hmmmmm.
Ok…. So I believe I’m getting divorced. Thanks for letting me know! Will you let me know when I’m getting re-married too? Thanks. #muppets

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa
Don’t go judging me for being excited about this show. Even you know this is one of the most popular entertaining shows on Indian television. In the 7th season of this popular reality dance show, the judges remain the same: Remo, KJo and Madhuri. And here’s the list of the 13 celebrity contestants: VJ Andy, Bollywood actors Purab Kohli and Sophie Choudry, cricketer S Sreesanth, singer Sukhwinder Singh, TV actors Ashish Sharma, Karan Tacker, Kritika Kamra, Puja Banerjee, Mouni Roy, Kiku Sharda, Shakti Mohan and Akshat Singh. Err, I know at least Andy will be entertaining and I’m excited about cutie Purab Kohli. I’m going to miss Kapil and Manish Paul who anchored last season, for this season has new hosts Drashti Dhami (she won last year’s Jhalak trophy) and funnyman Ranveer Shorey. CAN-NOT-WAIT!
Kill Dil First Look Leaked
So the shoot of this interesting film has finally wrapped up and while they are looking at a November release, we got a first glimpse of the movie (looks like it’s leaked accidentally, for it’s too hazy). There’s Ranveer without his mooch, Parineeti looking oh-so-glam (welcome change?) and Ali Zafar along with them. Guess who else is in this Aditya Chopra film? Govinda and Rani Mukerji and they are said to have prominent roles, with the former donning a negative avatar. I think I’ve piqued your interest enough…it’s a pity the release is only in November, huh?
Cannes You Believe It?
So the only other news that’s been buzzing last week has been of fashion and celebrities at the 67th Cannes Film Festival. But I’m not going to include Aishwarya, Sonam or Freida in this column; simply because that’s just expected. You have to see this insane, bizarre thing that happened on the red carpet to actor America Ferrera (of Ugly Betty fame). As she posed on the red carpet for her film How to Train Your Dragon 2, a random man in a tux snuck under her dress. Just as she (and the security) realised what was happening and tried to pull him away, he clung to her ankle so they couldn’t. This is paparazzi on another level. Creepy, disturbing and meme-worth—all at the same time.
Wait, tell me you know what happened last week. After the Met Gala, Solange (Beyoncé’s sister) was seen attacking her brother-in-law, better known as rap mogul Jay-Z, in a hotel elevator. While this made way for jokes and memes all over the internet, people speculated that Solange has a drinking/temper problem. Given that Beyoncé and Jay are usually very guarded about their life, their statement clarifying what happened comes as a surprise. Here’s what it said:
“Families have problems and we’re no different. As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” the statement said. “Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in public. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”
Looks like they’re as normal as any of us, huh? Apart from the millions they make. *Sigh*
That’s it in The Week That Was. Much love and entertainment to you in the week to come. Hope I managed to rid you of your Monday blues, even if it was just for a little bit!
