The Week That Was: Our Favourite Women Are Back

All last week, the weather relentlessly teased as people waited for those *ahem* glorious showers. Plans to eat corn and listen to romantic songs in the rain had to be slightly postponed much to the disdain of most; and the heat on the other hand was at an all-time high. Why have I turned weather girl, you wonder? My point is that the weather I can’t control. Your much-needed dose of news and gossip, I can. So here comes your weekly round-up, come hail or sunshine:

1)  Chew On This
Now let’s not pretend here; it’s quite unlike me to give you a football update in my weekly round-up. But when this certain incident occurred, it was all over the Internet, everywhere I looked. So I literally bit the bait and just had to report on this one. Uruguay striker Luis Suarez bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in his country’s final group game at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The 27-year-old was controversially given a four-month, nine-game ban at the international level. Now he claims that it was an accident and he just tripped and fell on his opponent. Can’t decide which is crazier—the guy’s appetite or his imagination!

The Week That Was InOnItThe Internet Has No Mercy :P

2)  The Queen Is Back
For too long now, Rani Mukerji has been in the news for reasons other than her work. And it’s sad but I had almost forgotten what a powerful performer this lady can be. Watch the trailer of her new movie Mardaani and you’ll know just what I’m talking about. Also, major props to YRF for making what seems like a rather bold film. I c-a-n-n-o-t wait to watch it!

Car Comedy With Kapil
I knew it wasn’t long before advertisers cashed in on the raging success that is Kapil Sharma. The man is a monument of talent, and that too one whose time has come. With YRF snapping him up for a three-film deal and Colors not wanting him to leave the show, success seems to be the key word in Kapil Sharma’s life right now. I guess the smart folks at Honda thought he’s the perfect guy to introduce their newest offering Honda Mobilio, through. Apparently, in a little over 24 hours, the spot has received over 2.5 lakh views on YouTube. Maybe it’s the fact that I was formerly in advertising, but sadly I can’t help cringe at the ad. I don’t quite like the script, or the casting. Kapil Sharma is sincere, just not entertaining enough. Am I being too critical? You tell me!

Monica Is Engaged!
Okay, in my head she will always be Monica Geller. But that’s also because I’m an incorrigible Friends fan (addict) who just can’t stop watching reruns. And turns out there are a lot of people like me. So this piece of news is for all those who still like to keep up with their favourite group of Friends. Turns out, Courteney Cox, whose divorce with David Arquette was finalised last year, is now newly engaged! The 50-year-old actress looks set to walk down the aisle for a second time after getting engaged to Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid. Good for you, Mon! The couple announced their happy news via Twitter with a selfie. (PS: Don’t they look blissed out?)

Crime Fighting Carrie Bradshaw?
I don’t want to be one of those people who always misleads with the title. So before you go wondering, no, there is no Sex And The City news. But for those who miss the former Miss Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker fans should rejoice because she may just be back to your TV set very soon, although playing a different kind of journalist. Sarah is set to return to TV in new crime thriller, Busted: A Tale Of Corruption And Betrayal In The City Of Brotherly Love. From sex columnist to investigative journalist? We’d love to see the sexy SJP fight crime in killer heels; but it could take some getting used to!
