The Week That Was: March 31st to April 6th
Ladies and gentlemen, you survived a week where ridiculous pranks were played and a day which has the word ‘fools’ was celebrated, a week where one of the most epic shows of our times ended (HIMYM), and a week where India lost and our hearts broke. But hey, you survived all that, and that’s what truly matters. So here’s to life and moving on, and sneering at celebrities while we can (we deserve some fun after the week we’ve had). I dutifully present to you The Week That Was:
1) Ek Villain
It’s been a good week for Bollywood! Especially if you are a Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor fan. Now here’s a movie that looks like it can really cement their place in the top league. On another note, the teaser is just right to pique your curiosity enough to definitely watch the movie. I’m loving the shades of grey. Are you?
2) Bald and the Beautiful
The permanent fixture on ‘our week that was’ news, we are talking of none other than Ranveer Singh. Apparently he’s given the big fat nod to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. This also means he has had to opt out of Shuddhi. I can’t believe people are giving the ever popular KJO’s movie the boot so easily; but I digress. So turns out Ranveer Singh knows he will have to go bald to play Bajirao, and he has even agreed to the challenge. Ah well! You win some, you lose some. And in his case, you lose lots. I love his ample, gorgeous, mane; but it’s the things you do to play SLB’s main! Such is life, eh?
3) Himesh Is Back *Celebratory Cheer*
We don’t know anything about the 60s till we hear it from Himesh. Yes it’s true; we present to you a much slimmer jaw line (relax young Gujarati girls, he’s a married man), we present to you Honey Singh (err, not sure what his status is but his feelings about women in general are quite debatable) and we present to you great music (The song is called Ice Cream) and a story based on desire, scandal and murder. HOW CAN YOU NOT WANT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE?
4) FRIENDS On Broadway?
For those of you lucky enough to have watched a musical on Broadway, this news will mean much more. But to the rest of us, who have only ever dreamed of doing so can look forward to what shall be the greatest musical ever made. That’s because America’s Sweetheart Jennifer Aniston wants to bring Friends to Broadway.
The 45-year-old actress is reportedly in “deep talks” to help turn the sitcom, which ran from 1994 until 2004, into a “billion dollar” musical, starring Lea Michele (of Glee fame), and wants her friend Sheryl Crow to oversee the project.
While it’s an awesome idea and I’m sure it’ll be a big hit, I can’t help but feel disappointed that the ‘original 6’ aren’t going to be in it. Now if they would consider doing a film together, that would be a million dreams come true! Universe, are you listening?
Yup, That’s How Old We Are
5) HIMYM News
The whole world had only one thing on their mind all this week. Yes, what can only be described as one of the greatest shows of our times concluded this week and the aftermath of that has been discussions and articles doing the rounds online. While most people expected a different/better ending, some felt it was a fitting finale to their favourite show. The jokes elucidating the similarities between the show’s finale and popular romantic Hindi movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai haven’t stopped since. But are we missing some really important news here?
An Alternate Ending:
Co-creator of the show, Carter Bays took to Twitter to reveal that there will indeed be a chance to see how they almost tied up the beloved characters’ futures.
“Here’s a bit of news: 16 days ago today we were in the HIMYM edit room, trying to decide between two very different endings,” he wrote.
“We only shot one script, but through edit room magic we had two possible outcomes for the series. We chose the ending we chose and we stand by it. But we loved the other version too.”
Trust them to do something legen…waitforit…dary. Well we are waiting Carter, we really are.
Ending No. 2 will be available on the season 9 DVD’s as well as on the series box set. *Sigh*
Looking forward to the alternate ending!
