The Week That Was: December 1st to 7th

We are back with The Week That Was. It is our undying quest to keep you updated. Ah well, who are we kidding, this is what we live for. So it only makes sense that we keep you updated on what happened in the world this past week. It was a rather somber week, but we still summarize all the important events that took place just for you.

The Week That Was

We’ve Got It Covered!

1)     RIP Paul Walker

The world is still reeling under the shock of the sudden demise of Hollywood star Paul Walker. Irony hasn’t escaped anyone’s thoughts as the mega franchise Fast and Furious star died in a car crash. The news is terrifying and saddening as he was so young and was just returning from a charity event. It’s heartening to see costar Vin Diesel talk of Walker’s death and refer to him as his ‘other half’. We can only hope that the world takes a lesson of safety out of this. Don’t be too fast behind the wheel; you don’t want to make God furious.

RIP Paul Walker

2)     We lose a legend. Goodbye Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela, the revered South African anti-apartheid icon who spent 27 years (probable more years of life than some us have even seen) in prison, led his country to democracy and became its first black president, died at the age of 95. We are lucky to have lived in the same era as this legend. There are so many things to learn from this revolutionary leader who has inspired so many other world leaders, but if we had to take away one basic learning it would have to be this: “People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” RIP Madiba, thank you for teaching the world how to love.

His Lessons Will Live On

3)     Imran Khan is the newest Daddy in town

The way of the world is, there are deaths and there are births. That’s the cycle of life and we are excited to finally announce some happy news. Yes, Imran Khan is about to become a daddy. After about three years of marriage, he and wife Avantika are going the family way. While that is such good news, and Imran genuinely seems like a nice guy, I’m really worried about his career. (Did you watch Gori Tere Pyaar Mein?!) There’s only so far Maamu can take you Imran, please concentrate on some acting workshops, we’d hate for you to disappear from the industry. Wishing this daddy to be good luck with everything. We are certain the baby will be yet another cute Khan, and God knows we can’t get enough of those!

4)     Sanjay Dutt on Parole

A major controversy has erupted over granting parole to actor Sanjay Dutt which will allow him to leave prison for a second time in little over a month with protests outside Pune’s Yerawada Jail forcing the government to order an inquiry. The reason being given for Sanju baba’s special treatment is his wife’s ailing health but rumour has it that she’sbeen spotted at a movie and a birthday party. Speculation is rife that this is just a cover up excuse for what is just a break/breather/holiday from jail. What do you think, genuine excuse or really ridiculous favouritism?

5)     Rebecca Black is Back

After the smashing hit that was Friday, (and by smashing we mean distinctly annoying) Rebecca Black is back! You will NEVER get what her new single is called. No come on, take a guess…it’s SATURDAYYYY! We have to give it to her for consistency. That and for taking two whole years to come up with a new and original single about the day that comes right after Friday. Watch it and see for yourself, we think it’s just about more bearable than Friday which has been touted as the worst song ever. Oh and if it gets stuck in your head, don’t blame us…maybe you just…don’t want Saturday to end *sings in nasal voice* :p

With that we end this week’s round up. Think some other news deserved to be on this list? Please tell us!
Till then, stay InOnIt and let’s hope for a happier week ahead.
